What You'll Learn
Enhanced GPU support for accelerated image editing
Adobe Camera Raw 9 has enhanced GPU support for accelerated image editing. This means that GPU acceleration speeds up image processing, especially for photos with multiple adjustments and high-resolution monitors (4K and above). Users can enable the new GPU acceleration features on supported systems via the Performance tab in Camera Raw Preferences. On some computers, the feature is automatically enabled.
GPU acceleration happens automatically on compatible systems for all ML-based features and isn't controlled by Camera Raw Preferences. Display and image processing are also improved by GPU acceleration. For example, acceleration can improve how fast you view results as you move the Texture slider. Additionally, using the GPU helps Camera Raw keep up with the demands of 4K, 5K, and larger displays.
To access Camera Raw Preferences, in Photoshop, choose "Photoshop > Preferences > Camera Raw". In Bridge, choose "Adobe Bridge > Camera Raw Preferences".
If you are unsure whether your system meets the general Camera Raw system requirements and the minimum system requirements for Graphics Processor (GPU)-accelerated features, you can check by following the steps outlined in the GPU FAQ and troubleshooting guide.

Edge-aware editing in 360-degree panoramas
Adobe Camera Raw 11.4 introduced edge-aware editing for 360-degree panoramas. This feature allows users to make seamless edits to 360-degree panoramas without the appearance of seams around the merged edges, which was an issue in previous versions, particularly when adjusting clarity or dehaze.
To utilise this feature, users must first open a supported image in Camera Raw. From there, they can click the icon in the Filmstrip and select "Enhance Details" in the pop-up menu. The "Enhance Details" preview dialog box will display an enhanced version of the photo, allowing users to compare the original and edited versions. Users can then click "Enhance" to create an enhanced DNG version of their photo.
It is important to note that this feature is not supported in the Camera Raw filter in Photoshop. Additionally, it is only applicable to Bayer and X-Trans mosaic raw files, and certain file formats such as JPEGs, TIFFs, and HEICs are not supported.
With the edge-aware editing feature, photographers can now seamlessly edit their 360-degree panoramas, enhancing their workflow and final image quality.
